The book starts from the observation that many in churches carry hidden wounds from pornography, abortion, rape, casual sex, sexless marriages, same-sex attraction, and childhood sexual abuse, yet preachers often feel ill-equipped to speak wisely about these realities. Dr. Sam Serio argues that sermons tend to either avoid sexual issues altogether or address them harshly, without nuance or empathy. He proposes a “middle ground” of preaching that offers forgiveness, transformation, and restoration while still naming sin clearly.
